hotel staff support Rhine Cleanup in Kaiserswerth

On a bright sunny day and spring-like temperatures, our hotel employees supported the Rhine Cleanup campaign in Kaiserswerth on Saturday, September 14, 2024. In the morning about 200 cheerful participants met at the Kaiserswerth ferry pier to remove garbage from the riverbanks and floodplains along the Rhine towards Lohausen and Wittlaer.

This year, for the first time, the project team from the International School Düsseldorf ISD successfully took over the distribution of collecting materials such as gloves, grapplers, bin bags and vests. The “Alte Rheinfähre” restaurant provided refreshing drinks and delicious bratwurst from Herbert Neukirchen’s butcher’s shop – grilled by the head of the judo club, Manfred Straßburger himself. Another reward was a raffle with fantastic gifts supplied from retailers from the north of Düsseldorf. At the 7th Kaiserswerther Rhine Cleanup, ISD students and families made up the majority of the litter pickers. However, members of KG Düsseldorfer Nordlichter, students and staff from Suitbertus Gymnasium, members of the Judoclub Kaiserswerth, as well as many other volunteers also took part.

Under a friendly sky, all participants searched the meadows and the banks of the Rhine for garbage with a great deal of enthusiasm and commitment. The hotel staff really enjoyed being part of this community activity. It was a phenomenal day in nature doing something good for nature. Definitely coming back next year – with a larger team from the hotel!
